The oakleaf-shaped leaves emerge from woolly, rich-green shoots in spring.

Magnificent pyramidal 20cm-long clusters of creamy-white flowers appear in the summer months. The leaves in autumn turn burgundy, red and wine-purple, remaining on the plant until the new leaves emerge in spring. Prefers a semi-shade and good soil that does not get too dry.

Grows to a height of 90cm.
